DIWE is widely used in foreign language and ESL classes. The Foreign Language Add-Ons enhance the program with a thesaurus and spell checking in French, German, or Spanish.

Thesaurus
The Thesaurus is available for students to use anywhere within DIWE. For example, a Spanish student participating in an InterChange discussion could open the Thesaurus and look up a synonym to use in a message. A student working on prewriting in Invent might look up antonyms as part of the process of defining a topic.

Spell Checking
Spell checking works only within the word processor Write. Since DIWE is an integrated suite of tools, however, it is easy to copy and paste text from one part of the program to another. For example, a person who wanted to post a message in Mail could use Write to compose the message in French, check the spelling, and then copy and paste the text into a Mail message.
